Jonny and I decided that since we were doing so much driving through different states, that we wanted to take pictures by the state signs. So here are some we took on our way home from Chicago. Enjoy!

Trip to Nauvoo

We're back from Chicago and its so nice to be back in Utah! We had a fun 6 months but its nice to get back to real life. I have lots to blog about and catch up on. We are also in the process of buying a new house in South jordan! Woo Hoo! We are so excited and move in the first of december. So stay tune for news on that...

On our way back from Chicago we made a stop through Nauvoo. I love that place. It is so amazing to be there and feel the spirit there. I went there last summer with my family, but it was Jonny's first trip there. I was so excited to take him there. He loved it also. It gives you so much more respect for the pioneers and all they went through. I don't know if I could have done what they did, they had a tremendous amount of faith. They sacrificed almost everything they had, left their homes, and made the long trip to the Salt Lake Valley.

The Pretty Temple

We went on an oxen ride- those are huge animals! It was a really fun time to be in nauvoo because there weren't a ton of tourists so all the senior missionaries loved to talk to us and give us great tours.
This one (above) was on a carriage ride we went on, they told pioneer stories. Even though it was a little cold, it was so neat. This was Jonny's favorite place- the blacksmith shop. We also made a stop by Carthage Jail. I was so glad we were able to go there too, even though it was a quick trip. You can't describe the spirit that is there, its very humbling. Its so neat to be in the same room and see exactly where the men were when the mobs attacked.
.
We were able to stop and stay a couple of nights with my brother and his family in Omaha. This picture above is Jonny and Jordan playing the Wii. Its a rough life.

Kris and Cami took us to the Winter Quarters Temple and visitors center. It also is a neat place to learn more about the pioneers. They have a cemetary right by the temple where so many of the saints were buried, its sad to see how many little children and babies died. That must have been so hard for the families.

We got to dress up as pioneers and pull a handcart a few feet. I couldn't imagine walking across the plains- in the freezing cold, of super hot, and in a dress!

The Winter Quarters temple. It was freezing and super windy!

It was a great trip home, we had so much fun seeing all the sights and learning more about the Pioneers.
